Free Wifi Finally Reaches Atlantic City

in Atlantic City

As someone who can work when I’m mobile I cherish free wifi. When I lived back east and frequented Atlantic City I had to always purchase 24 hours of wifi just to check in on email and access my VPN or files for an hour. There were only a couple options for free wifi. There was a bakery and the Starbucks in the city (not the one in the Pier Shops) and at the “Living Room” at Borgata that could only be accessed if I was staying there.

Las Vegas has had a host free wifi available for a while. Vegas Chatter has a list of where you can find free wifi in Vegas which includes my favorite spot – the sportbook at The Venetian!

My main man Baccarat Guy has been scoping out Atlantic City a bunch over the past couple of weeks since Revel opened and reports back that both Revel and Golden Nugget have free Wifi on the casino floor.

There is room to sit and grab some of this free wifi at each property. This is something that would attract me to stay at either property, especially for midweek trips.

Don’t expect much expansion of free wifi across Atlantic City. If Caesars Entertainment is consistant, they probably won’t offer free wifi at their properties since they don’t in Las Vegas. The Atlantic Club Hotel is focused on the low end of the market, which usually means old or poor customers that wouldn’t need wifi.

The two remaining Trump Casinos may choose to do something, but if they’re looking to sell they probably won’t take on the expense.

If you need a free quick wifi fix, head to the new casinos in Atlantic City.Coffee Fund

That’s interesting about Revel b/c when we were there, we had a devil of a time getting cell reception. I guess we should’ve just texted people using iMessage.

A lot of casinos are like that. The cell phones all suck from the same pool and weaken already weak signals. It’s awful on the strip with ATT.

REVEL has basically no (AT&T) cell reception; so I use iMessage and email (wifi) exclusively. I’m going to guess they don’t have there cell-repeaters properly in place (yet.)

AT&T is bad everywhere. I couldn’t get a call on my AT&T phone when I moved to Vegas. Switched to Verizon and always have a signal.
