Would you believe me if I told you The Westin Casuarina? That’s right. The former Maxim offers $3 craps in the early evening on weeknights and otherwise always has $5 craps. I was recently in Las Vegas for a bachelor party and some of the guys were on an extreme budget (no jobs, in school, just got out of the Marines, etc.). I don’t know how we ended up at the Westin, but after going in, we were surprised to find a bigger pit of table games than we had expected. On the end of the pit was the Craps table. Since Craps is the best game in the casino (not opinion, fact), we were immediately stoked to find a $5 game on a Friday night.

The first night we won moderately, played for a long time, and got along well with the dealers. The dealers noticed I was wearing this t-shirt and by the end of the night, I was affectionately known to the dealing staff as “Thunderbird”. Every time the dice came my way it was “Here we go Thunderbird!” or “Let’s go Thuuuunderbiiiiiird”. You get the idea. We left there having a great time, and in great spirits.

As creatures of habit (and seeking to replicate a good experience), we went back for a second and third night. By the third night, the whole group was known to the dealers, who even cheered when we showed up: “Here they are! The table is about to get hot!” There are two dealers in particular who were always dealing craps, both named Paul, who were incredibly fun and also were properly calling out the rolls. Sure part of the fun was winning all three nights, but either way, the dealers were a blast. Dealers can make or break your craps experience, and these guys were a welcome experience for a budget game.

You won’t find dealers of this quality at Bills, O’Sheas, Casino Royale, or any place else where you can play lower limits. So if you’re in Vegas and looking for great budget Craps, head to The Westin Casuarina, look for the Paul’s, and tell them Thunderbird sent you.
