18 and Life

in Connecticut,New York

I was checking my news feeds this morning and learned that it’s legal to gamble at the age of 18 in New York state.

The state of New York has many advantages over Connecticut when it comes to luring gamblers to their casinos. Major sports franchises, a melting pot of top dining options, and a culture that is rivaled by no other state are just a few of the examples that would draw tourists to the Empire State.

New York also has an advantage with their gambling age limit, and that is something the Mashantucket Pequot tribe wants changed. The tribe, which owns Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut, is lobbying legislators to consider changing the betting age limit from twenty-one to eighteen.

I guess it’s true that we all learn something new every day.  Diving a little deeper I learned that the legal age is both 18 and 21 depending on which casino you visit.

The minimum gambling age is 21 at the two Seneca casinos and 18 at the others.

I don’t think NY allows under 21 in casinos that offer table games. I know that Seneca Niagara near Buffalo is 21+.

JEF, here’s a little more info. It seems as if there are 4 casinos that are 21+ and the rest are 18+ go gamble.
