Viva Elvis! Coming to the ARIA
After months of speculation and plenty of rumors we’ve finally received some official news from Cirque du Soleil regarding what is sure to be one of the hottest new Las Vegas shows on the Strip. Along with announcing their take on Vaudeville with Banana Shpeel, Cirque du Soleil has finally revealed the official name of their latest show which pays tribute to Elvis Presley, The King of Rock and Roll.

This is Cirque’s second venture into the world of rock and roll. They’ve already put on an amazing tribute to the Fab Four with The Beatles: LOVE over at The Mirage and now they will debut their new show Viva Elvis! at the ARIA in December. The ARIA is going to be a gorgeous 61-story resort at the Las Vegas CityCenter. This hotel will have great floor-to-ceiling windows with amazing panoramic views, great restaurants (16 of them!) and a booming nightlife featuring ten bars and clubs. It also has the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certificate, making it a green hotel.
Viva Elvis! will feature remastered songs by Elvis Presley along with videos about his life. Thanks to the Presley family’s approval, the Cirque du Soleil show will have special access to personal artifacts from Elvis that will be unique to the Viva Elvis! show. Along with great music the show will feature acrobatics, visual effects, and the amazing costumes the Cirque shows have become famous for. This show will be unique as well since it will be one of the first shows to incorporate acting into the production.
We know the show has selected their Elvis and now we know the official name but there is plenty that remains a mystery about this show, including the song lists and the specific start date. There will be previews of the show in late December before it officially premieres in January of 2010. Along with the brand new CityCenter and the amazing ARIA hotel, we know Viva Elvis! will be an amazing addition to the Cirque lineup and an instant hit that will draw huge crowds to the ARIA.
