I fought with myself thinking that this cannot be a good deal for the customer but after thinking about this for a while I think the Phanatic Pass is a win-win deal for the customer and for the hotel.
Win for Planet Hollywood:
- They get $600 in advance of your stay. Money in the bank is always better.
- This is a way to increase traffic to the hotel which should help grow revenue.
- Ability to look at capacity in advance and project revenue.
- The customer may not use all 10 nights, which lessens the discount.
Win for the Customer:
- A quick glance at rates shows this as at least a $20 per night (week night) and as much as $120 per night (certain weekends) savings on base rates.
- No resort fees save a few bucks every night. I couldn’t find this charge when checking rates.
- No blackouts so rooms can be booked any night through 3/15/09.
I’m a cynic and always look for ways that a discount isn’t really a discount. I find the Phanatic Pass, on first look, to be a win all around. The hotel gets money in their pocket. The customer receives a nice discount with the advanced purchase.
If you are certain to use all 10 nights the savings could make the early payment worthwhile. The savings during Super Bowl weekend may, alone, save enough money to make this deal worthwhile.

Wow! I’d say that’s a great deal for customers–IF you plan to or have the ability to go to Vegas for 10 nights before March and you can afford to drop the $600 up front. Can you imagine how much money you’d save if you were going for New Year’s? Or even a weekend? That’d be great. I wish I hadn’t just gone to Vegas in September, I’d take advantage of this myself!
