Roundup From All Over

The last time I rounded up some articles they were all on CityCenter.  There’s nothing wrong with that, but there is so much more to life than one group of hotels and casinos.  There have been a few interesting articles on a variety of subjects in the past few days.

  • Philly.com has a fluff piece on the Mount Airy Casino Resort.  Stories like this make me think that this is my first PA gambling destination when tables are allowed.
  • Casino stocks down big this quarter.
  • Vegas Tripping has more renderings of Aria and also looks at the marketing (or lack thereof) of Aria.  VT may be doing more marketing for Aria then MGM-Mirage.
  • The Las Vegas Sun is the latest outlet to look at casinos using social media in their marketing.  It amazes me to see how far behind the east coast casinos are.  It just goes to show that Las Vegas is younger, faster and cooler while the east coast is older, slower and stubborn.
  • The New York Times looks at the economic situation in Atlantic City while using the term “death spiral” too often.  The NYT covering Atlantic City may be of interest even though there isn’t much new to the article.  While, well written the use of “death spiral” and lack of anything new made this article snoozer for me.
  • The ACG Atlantic City blog shares a tale of something that bothers me a lot – waiting in line for a gift.  This was at Resorts.  I don’t go to Resorts and I don’t wait in lines.
  • Wynn plans to get tough on scalpers of Garth Brooks tickets.  Good for them.
