Why I'll Never Play Golden Monkey Slots Again

I have a love/hate relationship with penny slots and this is a tale of hate and why i’ll never play Golden Monkey slot machines again.

First things first.  I like the Golden Monkey slot – a lot.  I also like monkey’s – a lot.  It has a fun, progressive bonus game where you collect monkeys to to earn prizes.  There are 2 levels where you can cash in your monkeys and start over but the fun is saving the monkeys to reach the bonus round.

I’ve never had much luck with the game, but I’d be ok with that and just move on.  The real problem with Golden Monkey slots is that there are always people lurking and waiting for someone to leave the game so they can pick up the monkeys and go after the progressive bonus.  Sometimes you can see them and sometimes they hide.  It’s just creepy.

I didn’t have this problem in Las Vegas, so I’m assuming it’s only an Atlantic City issue.  At first I thought this problem was only at Bally’s, but on my last trip I noticed very similar lurkers at the Tropicana.  One woman sat at a machine next to my friend playing one penny, very slowly, waiting for him.  Another did the same thing on the other side to a woman playing.  There were also others standing in the shadows.  Again, it was creepy.

So I’ll never play this game and I’ve alerted security to this problem, but really the lurkers don’t pose a physical risk to me.  I’m not worried, but I don’t like it.  Because of that I’ll let my money and my friends that like monkeys money, speak for itself.

I like this game. You don’t make any money getting to the ten steps cause it take about $200 if not more to get there. I’ve never seen anyone win the top prize which means you’re wasting money trying to get there. My strategy is get to the third step and cash out every time that way you get $25 but you make your money on this by getting the free game. If you can get the free game with a multiplier than you get even more money. The free game makes the reels spin automatically for at least 10 but i think it’s 15 spins.

I actually won the progressive jackpot at Dover Downs. The funny thing is that there was a Bally (slot) rep on hand when I received my payout, and he said he had never seen the progressive paid out.

I love this game and I am wondering if it is available to play on line for free?

I love this game you can not find them anymore, I first played it in Las Vegas at the Plaza (downtown) in 2006 it was 6 machines great big overhead loud. The nest year I came back it was 3 machines, the next year I went back there are no more machines. There were some at the Golden Nugget and now they are gone. I have never hit the top 2 jackpots and never seen anyone else hit them so I quit.

Inez, I haven’t seen them anywhere in Vegas recently. I’ve seen different slot machines with similar technology but no monkeys and no creepy onlookers. I have seen creepers on other cumulative slot games. Coincidentally, one was a monkey slot.
