The Ridge at Claridge via Ballys through Harrahs

theRidge is the name of the old Claridge gaming area.  It seems as if Ballys decided to throw a hodge podge of ideas at the wall to see what garners interest over at the Claridge hotel.  From the Press of Atlantic City:

Bally’s Atlantic City is paying some much-needed attention to its Claridge tower by recently debuting theRidge, a hybrid of a bar with casino games that offers a “high-energy party atmosphere in a casual environment”

Located on the Claridge gaming floor steps away from the connector to Bally’s, theRidge is labeled a “rock ‘n’ roll-style entertainment and gaming room,” and offers free live music, DJs, dueling pianos, drink specials, low table game limits, unique games and cool promotions that include Rock, Paper, Scissors tournaments and other promotions with a non-stop party vibe.

“Harrah’s Entertainment Atlantic City offers a dynamic variety of experiences, both gaming and non-gaming, for all of our customers across all our properties in Atlantic City,” says Vice President of Marketing D’Ann Glen. “TheRidge is an opportunity to give our younger and perhaps edgier customers a place where they can hang out comfortably with their friends in an atmosphere that is completely unique to the city.”

I appreciate that Bally’s is doing something new with the Claridge Tower.  However, this regurgitated press release doesn’t show much continuity to the idea.  Dueling pianos, DJ’s on the floor and Rock Paper Scissors on that small floor don’t make much sense to me.  With that being said, I’ll save opinion for my next trip to Ballys or until I get some reliable reports.

I checked this out this weekend. It’s pretty nice. They’ve redone the decor to a new, darker color scheme with new tables, felts, lighting etc. It’s very cool. The games are basically the same as the old Claridge. The pai gow/baccarat/”asian” area is still there. Nothing else new, except I saw a $5 dice game.

Ted, thanks for the update. Your description sounds pretty cool. Hopefully drink service is brisk since the casino is so small. :)

I’ll be checking it out in a few weeks when I stay at Bally’s.
